Woman Power

You are invited to join women leaders from eleven southeastern states and Puerto Rico for Woman Power: the purpose, power and progress of women, an AAUW South Atlantic and Southeast Central Regional Conference.  Here is a snapshot of what you can expect.

The conference kicks off Friday evening devoted to Women’s Words. Authors from the south, such as Gail Evans, author, CNN news reporter and Georgia Tech faculty member; Fawn Germer, author, Hard Won Wisdom; and Dorothy Shawhan, author and Chair/Professor Division of Language & Literature, Delta State University, will join a panel of women authors to discuss their writing experiences as well as participate in a book signing event.

On Saturday, Nancy Rustad, AAUW President, Keynote Speaker, addresses attendees on the Power of Our Achievements.  Get energized as a panel of women in politics, athletics, corporate and international arenas discuss the Power of Leadership.  After lunch, top female student athletes invited from AAUW College/University Partner institutions within SA/SEC regions will be saluted for their achievements.  Jenny Higgins, Emory University Doctoral Candidate, AAUW Educational Foundation Fellow, and an AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund Plaintiff will explore the Power of Philanthropy followed by AAUW Public Policy, the Power of Advocacy.

Throughout the conference there will be ample opportunities to network with other women and honored students.  At night, discover the Atlanta entertainment scene, or simply enjoy dinner with new friends.

Sunday morning highlights the Power of Teamwork, a workshop on successful leadership building.  The conference concludes at noon with the Power of AAUW Membership.
