Twelve of the Region’s
Most Promising Entrepreneurs
Selected for the Birmingham Venture Club’s
2004 Entrepreneur Accelerator Program
A broad range of entrepreneurs from across the Birmingham region are represented in
the inaugural class of the Entrepreneur Accelerator Program. Selected through a
competitive process, the twelve entrepreneurs will be presented to the community
tomorrow at the Birmingham Venture Club luncheon. The purpose of the program is to provide
participants with knowledge, access to resources, and ongoing mentoring relationships to maximize
the probability that they will grow successful businesses in the Birmingham region.
Rob Adams, General Partner of Tejas Venture Partners in Austin, Texas and author of
A Good Hard Kick in the Ass: Basic Training for Entrepreneurs, will kick off the program
with a message about launching entrepreneurial ventures. While the event will also serve as
a regular meeting of the Birmingham Venture Club, the event is open to the public and anyone
who wants to start up or accelerate an entrepreneurial venture should attend.
The class members for the Inaugural Entrepreneur Accelerator Program are:
Marc Beaumont ~ Co-Founder, President and CEO of KickMail, LLC, a
company that is transforming the one-to-one business e-mail into an interactive,
trackable sales tool for large distributed sales forces.
Kevin Katechis ~ Founder and President of Net Leverage, LLC, a
software development company that has developed and is marketing a set of applications
called “ProDigiTools” that help small to medium sized businesses make their websites
become more proactive.
Keith Knowles ~ Founder and President of Empoint, LLC, a company
that utilizes internally developed internet technology to assist in the communication,
enrollment, and administration of employee benefit programs on behalf of the insurance industry.
Dr. Beverly Laird ~Co-Founder of 3D Medical Concepts, LLC, a small precision machine
shop that specializes in developing, prototyping and manufacturing surgical instrumentation, primarily
for orthopedic and spinal surgery.
Duncan Lamb ~ Co-Founder and President of Craig, Lamb & Singletary, Inc., a company
that provides high-end business intelligence applications and services, including analytics and statistical
processes for monitoring key business processes.
Doug Moore ~ Managing Partner of Innovex Technology, LLC, a software
development and services company which develops software that is used by several large
insurance companies and high-tech vendors across the country.
Dario Morgan ~ Co-Founder and Executive Director of Persona Health Services, Inc.,
a regional provider of hospice, palliative care and home health services.
Zandile Moyo ~Founder of Musa, a card-based coalition loyalty marketing company
focused on building networks of local businesses to support focused clusters in local schools.
Doug Neil ~ Founder of CAMSTAR, the Center for Advanced Motorsport Technology and
Research, LLC, an entity designed to commercialize university technology and services for
the performance sector of the transportation industry.
Tanveer Patel ~ Founder, President and CEO of Azikewe Systems, Inc., a
world-wide software development company with offices in Birmingham and Bangalore, India.
Jeff Talley ~ Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Naia Corporation,
a software and services provider focused on mid-sized manufacturing and distribution companies
around the Southeast.
Charles Welden ~ Co-Founder of One Domain, Inc., a software company that
develops and markets media planning, research, and business intelligence software to television
stations across the nation.
