The following excerpt is from the March 30, 2007 edition of the Birmingham Business Journal's article on Emerging Companies and the Fast Track 25:

OneDomain Inc.'s CEO Charles Welden will be the first to admit that his company's strategy isn't complicated.

In fact, taken at its core, Welden even calls the company's growth plan "mind-numbingly" simple.

"We listen to our customers," he said.

It might be mind-numbing, but it's been effective for OneDomain, which designs software for television stations that makes it easier for the stations to sell spot time.

Welden's company recorded revenue growth of 84 percent from 2005 to 2006, easily making it one of the fastest growing companies in the metro area.

By concentrating on the unique software needs of the company's clients, Welden said OneDomain is well-positioned for growth.

"Better ideas, better technology and better service are still rewarded in our business sector," Welden said.

Welden said some of its products, such as the Ebiz4TV are just now starting to see their proper market positioning.

He also noted that the company's increasing market share of its core product, ClearView, has allowed OneDomain's software tools to become a reality.

The company, which was founded in 2001, employs 30 in its Birmingham office, with two employees at satellite offices.

Welden said the company recently completed a major reinvestment in its after-sale support.

In the next two years, he expects the company's market share to surpass 70 percent.

Because OneDomain continues to expand its software tool offerings to its current customer base, Welden said the company has an "almost guaranteed" stream of revenue growth - even if the company didn't add any new customers.

Welden said the company is adding two new revenue producing products in April.

With six years under its belt, the question Welden now faces is where to take OneDomain next. That's something he's already hard at work on.

"We are planning now on which niche of the marketplace to be ready to attack in the next 18 months," he said.
